GeoVerra is seeking eager Forestry Students to join our fun and collaborative Forestry and Environmental team for a Spring/Summer 2025 Student position for a 4 month term!

We’ll be real with you—our ideal scenario is to bring our former students on as full-time employees once they graduate!

What you will do:

  • Assist on a range of planning & operations projects in the office and field. 
  • Scout and evaluate sites in the field for timber volumes for utility, & forestry clients in Alberta.
  • Conduct hazard tree assessments and salvage planning on utility lines in Alberta.
  • Review stakeholder agreements & consent.
  • Prepare reports and practice technical writing.
  • Create, attribute and map GIS data.

What you will bring:

  • Experience performing field work safely and efficiently throughout Alberta.
  • Enrollment in the NAIT Forest Technology program and preferably NAIT Co-Op program. 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
  • Collaborative attitude and the ability to excel in a team and independent environment.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction through problem solving, critical thinking and sound decision making.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superior attention to detail to produce professional deliverables & documentation. 
  • Forestry field experience, planning and layout preferred but not required.
  • Technical, mathematical, scientific, and computer skills including MS Office products, ESRI ArcGIS, & field GPS.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
  • Clear background check including criminal record check.
  • Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.

Job conditions

  • Out-of-town work (shift durations vary dependent on project and can be over 10 days) and frequent travel required.
  • Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
