We are looking for a talented Plan Checking Technician to join our fun and fast-paced Production team in a hybrid model reporting in to our Weyburn office in Saskatchewan. Working with the Project Management groups, the Plan Checking Technician will check survey plans and calculations from the CAD team. The Plan Checker's role is critical in ensuring the highest quality of the survey plans.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for conducting survey calculations and plan checking for a variety of projects.
  • Effectively perform quality assurance checks on collected survey data and plans, able to utilize industry and company standards in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Use standard survey practices to efficiently check accurate survey plans from information gathered in the field and the office.
  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments.
  • Actively work at improving plan checking skills and increase current knowledge of surveying.
  • Check plans using the standards set out by GeoVerra.
  • Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all survey plans for which you have responsibility meet GeoVerra standards before they are submitted to project managers.

What you will bring:

  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline; or certification in related CAD/GIS courses.
  • Oil and gas or industrial survey construction experience is required.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience using AutoCAD and related software in the preparation of survey related plans
  • Skilled in the use of the latest versions of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Coordinate Geometry software.
  • Member in good standing or eligible for registration with local Survey or Technologist Association is preferred but not required.
  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organization; is a great team member.
  • Ability to work without supervision, effective time management and strong organizational skills.
  • Contribute on an on-going basis toward maintaining a safe working environment both for yourself and for those working with you or in your close vicinity.
  • Proficient in Windows; MS Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and able to think outside the box.
